Weitsch stellte die Hauptmotive der einzelnen Bilder – Ebene, Felsformationen, Bäume, Buschwerk und Wolken sowie Hirten und Herdentiere – variationsreich zu einprägsamen szenischen Landschaftsausschnitten zusammen. Er entwickelte die Kompositionen mit großer Sensibilität aus den Grundformen des jeweiligen Gefäßes heraus. Durch das zartfarbige Kolorit sowie die lockere Malweise erzielte er eine atmosphärische Wirkung.

Weitsch combined the main motifs of the individual paintings – plains, rock formations, trees, bushes and clouds, as well as shepherds and their animals – into varied expressive landscape scenes. He showed great sensitivity in developing the compositions from the basic shapes of the individual items of the set and achieved an atmospheric effect by using delicate colors and applying them with a light touch.
